Each gas station has enough gas to (reportedly) last for about 50 in-game years. And there are a lot of gas stations. They power down when the power grid goes down, but that's solved by keeping a generator hooked up at the station you're using (turn it off when you leave tho). Don't worry about it.

As long as you find a working vehicle and fill its tank (park next to the pump to refuel directly), you don't need to worry about having a gas can before the power goes out, you can just keep exploring until you find one then siphon a bit of fuel from your car when you need to power the gas station with a generator.Dec 29, 2021 ... ... Please devs, No infinite gas pump. enough said. IRL, gas station underground tanks hold 12,000 - 24,000 gal (45000-90000 liter). A 7000 watt generator, big enough to run as many appliances as you can in PZ, will run for 18 hours on a 5 gal (19 liter) tank of gas. The average mileage for a pickup truck in the mid 1990s was 15-20 miles per gal ...

So the player has to do a tiny bit of work to get one in working order (or just be lucky...) Anyway for gas, it is very easy.Gas does not respawn, but if you are running low on it, place a generator at a gas station and turn it on when you need to fuel up.
