I don't know about the torque though. Alot of guys are usin this trans in high hp LSx builds. They sell an aftermarket headgasket that they say u can run higher boost, but i'm not sure how much higher. People have been able to pull off 10-12psi on stock internals daily driven with very good tuning. However that is REALLY pushing it. Personally, I wouldn't go higher than 8psi daily driven.

With slicks and 6000rpm launches, probably 350-400hp tops. Street tires, normal driving, occasional trip to the drag strip (without the 6000rpm launches), they'll hold up to over 400hp no problem. From my (limited) experience, it's not continuous load that breaks parts, it's shockload on the launch or on very hard shifts. I've heard of a few cases of thrown rods on L67's but none of them seemed to be from high hp, more than likely an engine defect.I want to upgrade to a crate motor with just over 400 hp and 400 ft-lbs of torque, 700R4 trans, and VBP suspension but I want to make sure the stock rearend can handle that power. I have read on this forum, 600 hp with street tires, 400 with slicks. If the rearend is in good shape. He has the weaker 80-82 rear end.

I've heard of people break them at 500hp or so but as long as you have a bigger trans cooler and watch your temps it'll last a long time.
