Don't use black ice for your sleeping quarters, use a cool building material, dlc or reinforced stone building mats. Build a well for water and cooling, and house your campfire and maybe even the furnace in a separate unit so you don't overheat while crafting or cooking. Also make a maproom ASAP. It's hot there. As far as builds go for pve, once you have a fighter thrall you can get through all the pve content with an encumbrance build. It's great for harvesting/building. I go with 1/10/30//20/41/15. You still need 9 enc from armor, and 5 survival from black blood tools. If you don't have those things you will have to distribute points another way.
