I have mounted a Nikon P-223 3X32 carbine rifle scope on an AR 556. I used Nikon P rings but that scope is short enough that you should be able to mount it with straight rings. I don't think you need extension rings or a cantilever mount to correctly position the ocular.Just get a normal GI Sling and pick up a quick detach sling swivel. The ar556 has a QD point machined into the bottom of the front sight. Attach the front of the sling there and the other end to the buttstock. It already has a sling mount on the buttstock.
