I fixed it on mine by going to MCM and turning off Cinematic Mode for the FG and enabling VRIK's (Ver 8.1) Selfie mode. Right after that the clones of your character started back up again, just as the mod intended. I'm at about 90+ mods at this point and it's still working just fine. Maybe VRIK must be the mod that fixed/broke it for you.
