Baldurs gate 3 dual wield feat.
The dual wielder feat is bad for a dex based character. Being able to off-hand a normal weapon instead of a light weapon means one of your two weapons get +1 damage on average. You also get +1 AC. Or, you could just take a dex ASI which will also get you that AC, +1 damage to both weapons instead of just one, and then a whole lot more.
By default you can only dual wield if both weapons have the "light" property.Longswords are not light, so they cannot be dual wielded without the dual wielder feat. There's a very brief explanation of how dual-wielding works, near the top. Basically, you can only dual-wield one-handed weapons that have the Light property. However, you can select the feat Dual Wielder when you level up, and it will lift that limitation, so you'll be able to wield e.g. battleaxes in each hand. <3.

And so if you need to swap weapons during combat that's wasting two whole turn just to cast 2 Shillelagh - unless you cast before combat which I find it tedious. I feel like you didn't even try to read the post
