My 11th round jammed while cycling into the chamber. I cant get it to clear. I dropped the mag and when I pull the slide back the entire barrel comes back with the slide. The Ruger Security 9 is my first "Hammer Style" semi auto pistol. With the advertised "95% cocked hammer" it has me second guessing carrying loaded without the safety engaged. 13 years of daily carry, and you haven't shot yourself yet is a pretty good track record. It's all about trigger discipline.

I was shooting factory Blazer Brass 115's and 124's as well as my reloads and the problem persisted no matter what ammo I used.

Now, upon reassembly, the slide will not go all the way back because the hammer is down. I did not try to push the hammer back in fear of damaging anything. Has anyone experienced the same issue ... Yes, I read that as well. That was why I started to write in the first place. I thought that by it being spring loaded "down", it should release simply by sliding the slide back. That did not work, but releasing the mag did. Anyway got er done. I then can push the slide forward the rest of the way. Like I said, it doesn't affect live firing, but the P89 I owned in the past wouldn't get stuck out of battery when doing this, so I wonder how normal this is. Now slam your strong hand into the back of the grip being sure to depress the grip safety as you do it. Remember the grip safety, if not depressed, will keep an XD locked shut.
