The thread on the Ti version of the Mesa really shows that the stocks seems to be their weakness (lots seemed to be coming in over weight). The tikka is better over all. You can get a full howa set up for under 300. A base tikka will run 500-600. I don’t think the tikka is 2x as good as howa but not everything in life is linear, you pay more of a premium for better stuff.I’m looking to spend $2k total after accessories, not counting my viper. Over the years it has seen some little changes, metal shroud, changed bokt handle, bolt stop etc. No real weight change. This year I decided to use some of the pieces I had lying around. I bought an Origin at 10% off, ~$745, when Brownell's still allowed the coupons on them. I then purchased a Proof Origin Pre-fit for $730. In my case, ~$150-200 net upgrade cost.

I notice no difference in accuracy with the mcmillan and I actually prefer the fit and feel of the tikka factory stock a bit more. That being said my dad recently passed away and he had a CA Mesa in a 6.5 creed. The Bergara Premiere action has better materials (stainless) than a factory 700/CA, and is going to have a floating bolt head similar to a Savage.
