What the item is: An 18th century cloak. How it fits the challenge: The clever construction of 18th century cloaks mean that they use fabric very efficiently, with no leftover scraps. Material: Silk-cashmere plush, with silk taffeta facings and hood lining. Pattern: Based on the one in Costume Close Up.
Attach Fisherman yarn to corner of blanket. Working along the right side of the blanket, slip stitch evenly along the edge. At the end of the row, ch 1, turn, then slip stitch through the back loop only across the row. Tie off and weave in ends. Block to shape and size as desired.If you don't want the cape to flap behind you and hang down straight more readily, make sure the fabric is heavier. If you do want the cape to flow and flap, pick a lighter weight material like a silk.
