Conversely, Revit is pretty clunky for concept development -- especially if there's abstract geometry involved. You can spend a lot of time trying to develop the geometry only to find out that your concept doesn't work as well as you expected. Takes much longer than Sketchup to realize something will or will not work.

AutoCAD is mostly used for 2D drafting and there is plenty of demand for that. There is several decades of history wrapped up in AutoCAD, its not going anywhere. As for the Engineers, they're "above" the drafting task and are used to having full graphical control over the lines-and-text CAD drawings. They mark it up and the "CAD guy" makes it happen. Depends on how powerful the server is and how many people are using Revit. Revit requires a decent amount of Ram. So if you are a midsize firm with 300 Revit users daily then the speed/clunkiness is going to be based on how much ram is available to allocate to each user. Probably want somewhere near 1-2 Tb for that many users.
