Other GM cars still have a trunk release key Fob button and one inside as well. On ther pass side of the gas fill structure, you will see a Phillips screw, remove it. Remove the strap from the trunk lock cylinder. Push out from the inside, the lock cylinder. Insert flat blade screwdriver from the trunk side into the latch slot previously occupied by the lock cylinder. Twist the key and trunk lid opens.

The only way we could get it to open was to turn off the car and take the keys out of the ignition and then our remote would allow the trunk to open.
