According to the link, you take the first two digits and subtract from 100 to get your year of manufacture. I replaced the stamped dear head birch stocks (which I still have) with some new Walnut checkered stocks I got off of ebay! Now it looks like a 336sc (sporting carbine).Marlin has a ramp front sight, the Glenfield uses a front sight dovetailed into the barrel. The Marlins have a little nicer rear sight. Most of the Marlin 336s have a barrel band type forearm, the Glenfields use the end cap type forearm. Marlin has a gold trigger.
