I recently compared the Gen 4 G30, a G30 SF, and a G30s all side by side. All were new in the box, were blue labels and were priced exactly the same.

With a G30 having 10+1 verse 6+1 plus with a G30 my spare mag is a 13 round G21 mag. You can only use a G36 mag in a G36. My BUG Bag I carry a few 27 round mags that work flawless in my G30 also.

After a side-by-side comparison, the Model 30SF really isn't a lot bigger than the Model 39 or Model 36. A little wider than the Model 36 and a bit taller and longer than the Model 39. In addition, the availability of .45ACP vs. .45GAP was a factor in my decision.According to Glock the 30S was designed for the LAPD's SIS and my understanding is they use 230 grain +P HST's in all their 45s. It would make sense to me to run the same ammo. Plus I like Federal HST ammo it is proven in testing and on the street. My current avatar is the logo for my group Young Guns of Michigan.
Jan 22, 2014 · The SLIDE width between the G30 and the G30s is about an 1/8th of an inch thinner. The length difference is between Gen 3 and Gen 4 frames. The WIDTH between the Gen 3 and Gen 4 FRAMES are the same. The G30s slide is about the same WIDTH as the Glock 9mm/.40 cal models. Look, the Glock 30 is a fine pistol, but it doesn’t have a match grade accurate barrel. The Kimber does. The Glock doesn’t have a match grade smooth trigger. The Kimber does. The Kimber weighs more than the Glock, but has more muzzle flip? Maybe. The Glock has a longer barrel, than the Kimber. One thing for sure.The G23 has more felt recoil, due to the cartridge, only. The G30SF is a GREAT shooting pistol and VERY accurate, even with CCI Blazer (aluminum) 230 gr FMJ, at 15 yards. (I test the accuracy of a 'social' handgun at 15 yards.) The G23 has a 'sharper' recoil, where the G30SF is more of a 'push' into the web of my hand. Glock 30s jamming issue. I have a very odd issue with my Glock 30s. Every few mags the nose of the round will go up and get jammed at the top of the feed ramp. I like the G36, but never could see much advantage in using a thick frame with a thin slide; the pistol is only as thin as it's thickest part.

Having said that, in the SF configuration, I have no trouble with my short sausage fingers. Finally, the Glock 30 with the flush fit magazine makes for a pretty concealable package in that the short grip length is a big plus for CCW.
