I have a 2018 High Country when it was new it had the shift to park issue and was told by the Dealer, they replaced the whole shifter. The car has 26000 miles.

Wiggling the shifter has made it go away each time. Searching the forum, though, I see mostly 2016 and 2017 models experiencing this issue.Well I just recieved the estimate. They want to replace the shift to correct the shift to park estimate $803.28 plus tax, 3rd tail light replacement $599.76 +tax, popping sound rear suspension repair. $ 1522.62. I figure I can replace the light. Not sure if I should go to another mechanic in lieu of the dealership for another opinion.Shift lever can be moved to any position if ignition is in unlocked/run position but gear indicator is stuck on Reverse. I can not start the car. If I put lever all the way forward, “Park”, I can turn key to off and remove it. Is this the shift cable problem or a transmission problem.
