I have owned several shaft drive bikes, and never had to do more than just change the oil and lube splines at the final drive. I looked at the service manual, and all it shows is change the final drive oil every 24,000 miles.There is no filter specific for synthetic oil. There are, however, filters with better filtering media vs. paper found in most filters. Mobil 1 M1-110 is one of them. Bosch 3323 is another. I recently did my own first oil change. After reading the manual I purchased four quarts of oil. The manual says that the capacity of the case is 3.9 quarts. I drained from both the front and back quarts. After all was done, I seem to be coming up short.
