Unfortunately LBG Rapid Fire Pierce 2 outclasses HBG Pierce in this game right now. But, if you want to do Pierce HBG, either the Narga HBG or Barioth HBG are strong options. Get Pierce Up, Weakness Exploit, Crit Boost, Attack Up for damage. You may want Ballistics (used to be Aim Booster) level 2 to expand your critical range for close range.

The damage uptime you get while using it (and it allowing you near 100% MM uptime) is just exceptional. Nice sticky/slice/pierce endgame sets for LBG.Mind's Eye gives you bonus damage for hitting hard spots now, but something like that is only really useful for breaking hard hitzones that become soft after they are broken (like Uragaan's chin or the metal Rath's heads), which don't really exist in Rise right now. but you'd still do the reduced damage of hitting a hard spot.

Try to get Free Elem/Ammo Up to 3 so you get more Pierce on your clip and Pierce Shots skill (or whatever its called) to boost your Pierce ammo even further.
