Personally I prefer the bow, though my friend that plays with me a lot normally uses the staff himself. If you do decide to dip into the staff, the Hailstone Armor skill is extremely powerful with it judging by what I have seen from said friend. Staff is 100% the best weapon when you unlock the mods for it. I wont spoil but just grind some ash ...

Don't faceroll it to death and let the phases play out. The boss will spawn them eventually. They spawned for me when the boss was at 1/3 health. World 3 boss variant (the bluish white one) spawns them. Any strong and reliable builds to get consistent runs? i.e any strong weapons and relic combos? Frost focused builds are very safe especially combined with heal on crits. Honestly, lots of viable ones available. Ice skills + burn relics with the regular ol' sword does great. I call it “no two people are not on fire”.
